Newborn Sessions and Covid-19 ; Mckinney Newborn Photographer

As a Dallas area newborn photographer one of my very favorite things about my job is getting to document brand new babies first days in the world. Babies grow so quickly and change so fast and capturing this time when they are so tiny is so special.

Naturally with the Covid-19 pandemic we’ve had some questions about how newborn sessions will look now that we are allowed to reopen and safety precautions we are taking. I’m hoping this q&a post can answer some of the most common questions we have had and make clients feel comfortable bringing their little ones to the studio!

Is the studio open for newborn sessions?

Yes! We were allowed to (safely) start taking newborn sessions again last week! While safety was always a priority for us, we have taken some additional measures to ensure we keep everyone healthy!

What new safety measures are put into place?

For the entire session, my assistant and I will both wear masks. We have masks in the studio for parents as well and ask that they wear them too. We’ve limited studio sessions to immediate family only and will only photograph one newborn a day so that we can sanitize and clean after each session. All clients must sign a waiver that they haven’t exhibited any Covid-19 symptoms and are healthy for the session. All items are washed after each session and surfaces cleaned.

What if my pediatrician doesn’t want us to leave the house when the baby is brand new?

No problem at all! Most newborn photographers suggest scheduling your session for the first two weeks after the birth. This is for good reason as this is when babies are still sleepy during the day and flexible for posing. The good news though is that while that is a recommendation we can most definitely still photograph your baby at older age! We’ve had great success with babies that are even 8 and 9 weeks old.

I delivered in March or April and never got to schedule a newborn session. Is it too late to book?

No! While we definitely recommend reserving your session before your baby is born we will always do our best to accommodate late bookings. Contact us today for more information on our pricing and packages.

WELCOME

Hi! I’m Laura! Thank you for visiting my site giving me the consideration of documenting this special time for your family! With over 800 newborns photographed and over 9 years of experience, I can assure you, your little one is in the best hands! Before I was a photographer I was a first grade teacher. I stopped doing that when my oldest son was born and quickly picked up photography as a hobby. Being a first time mom and seeing just how quickly my baby was growing and changing each day I realized the importance of documenting these memories. When they say the days are long but the years are short, that could not be more true! That same baby is almost a teenager now and I am so glad I had photography as a way to freeze that tiny window of time! I once heard someone say that while family photos are important, you can take new ones every year. Newborn photos are a one time thing and once that time is gone you’ll never get it back!
