Maternity Session FAQ’s {McKinney Maternity Photography Session}

If you’re reading this blog post, you’re probably expecting and looking into a maternity session. First of all, congratulations! This is such an exciting time. And if you’re questioning whether or not you should book a maternity session, the answer is YES! 🙂

Here are the most frequently asked question’s we get asked regarding our maternity sessions:

When should I book my maternity session?

We typically schedule maternity sessions when mom is 32-36 weeks pregnant.

What should I wear?

Always start with long, flowy dresses without a pattern. Creams, whites, and other neutrals look great and photograph really well. We have a full wardrobe of maternity dresses that you can choose from as well! If you’d prefer to purchase your own dress, we are loving Baltic Born, Pink Blush Maternity and Wren & Ivory for online options. Can I include my spouse + other children?

Absolutely! It’s always special to capture the parents-to-be and the soon-to-be siblings. We’ll capture mom by herself, but then incorporate the entire family to complete the session! Need outfit inspiration for your session? Check out our blog post here!

Where do your maternity sessions take place?

Our maternity sessions take place in our downtown McKinney studio. Get your photos taken then explore the shops and restaurants, and overall cuteness that is downtown McKinney!

How long is a maternity session?

Maternity sessions typically take 30-60 minutes.

What’s included in a maternity session?

Your maternity session includes full use of our client closet (2 outfit changes for mom!) and all of the props needed. Our studio is set up with a fully made bed in front of a gorgeous brick wall and we have chairs and couches, so you get the lifestyle “at home” look with the amazing in-studio lighting. After your session, you’ll have the option to choose either our 8 image or 15 image package. We take way more than that, but you’re able to pick your favorites!

Hi! I’m Laura! Thank you for visiting my site giving me the consideration of documenting this special time for your family! With over 800 newborns photographed and over 9 years of experience, I can assure you, your little one is in the best hands! Before I was a photographer I was a first grade teacher. I stopped doing that when my oldest son was born and quickly picked up photography as a hobby. Being a first time mom and seeing just how quickly my baby was growing and changing each day I realized the importance of documenting these memories. When they say the days are long but the years are short, that could not be more true! That same baby is almost a teenager now and I am so glad I had photography as a way to freeze that tiny window of time! I once heard someone say that while family photos are important, you can take new ones every year. Newborn photos are a one time thing and once that time is gone you’ll never get it back!
